Scott and Carver Housing Options


The Scott Carver Dakota CAP Agency Housing Services helps people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  Our goal is to provide resources for people to maintain existing housing or secure new housing.   Assistance includes short or long-term housing services intended to help clients stabilize their situation and become self-sufficient.

Scott/Carver Family Homeless Prevention Assistance Program (FHPAP)

If you are facing homelessness or at risk of losing your housing, please contact CAP housing staff at 952-496-2125 for assistance.  Please note that housing options are limited and housing placements are not guaranteed.

  • Help with damage deposits or first month’s rent for eligible individuals
  • Provides resources for housing search
  • Assists with current rent

Am I eligible?

  • Scott or Carver resident, family, single or youth (18-21)
  • Must be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
  • Monthly net income that is at or below 200% of federal poverty guideline and be able to support the monthly rent going forward

Scott/Carver Supportive Housing Program

CAP Agency has short and long term housing assistance for homeless individuals, families or youth (18-21).   Once admitted into the program, individuals work with a case manager to find housing, sign a lease and work on other identified needs.  To be admitted into the program, individuals need to complete the Coordinated Assessment.

We provide the following:

  • Assistance with housing search and resources
  • Help with damage deposit
  • On-going rental assistance and case management for the length of the assistance

Am I eligible?

You must meet HUD’s definition of homeless:

  • Staying in a place not meant for habitation
  • Fleeing domestic violence
  • Staying in a shelter paid by a voucher
  • Leaving an institution after 90 days or less

How do I apply?

To be considered for the Scott/Carver Supportive Housing program, you will need to complete a Coordinated Assessment .  This can be done through the CAP Agency or through your county worker in Scott or Carver County.   Coordinated Assessment is a streamlined, fair way to find a housing program that will best fit your needs.   Once you are assessed, you are placed on the local wait list to be considered for an openings in the program.   If you are currently experiencing homelessness, please call 952-496-2125 for more information.

Scott/Carver Emergency Shelter

CAP has limited hotel funds to assist individuals and families through a gap in housing.  If you have obtained housing, but have nowhere to stay until the housing is available, contact CAP at 952-496-2125 to see if you qualify for housing assistance through our Emergency Shelter Funds.
