HOW WE HELP

CAP Agency’s Thrift Shop provides the community a place to shop for or donate gently used quality clothing and household goods.  CAP Thrift Shop is an important link between the community and the families we serve. Donated items are prepared to be sold, and ALL proceeds from sales help pay for programs and services at CAP Agency.  CAP Thrift Shop is open to the public.

CAP Thrift Shop is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-6:00pm and Saturday 8:30am-5:30pm

WHAT TO DONATE

The CAP Thrift Shop accepts new and gently used clothing and household items.  Clothing and linens should be clean and free of stains and rips, and household items should be safe, in good working condition, and contain all pieces and parts.
 
The CAP Thrift Shop will accept furniture if it is clean, in good shape, and easy to move for our clients and staff.  Please call ahead before donating furniture items: 952-402-9898.
 
The CAP Thrift Shop may choose to refuse to accept a donation if we feel the donation is not saleable, inappropriate for the shop or our clients, or we simply do not have the space for the donation.
 
There are a few items the CAP Thrift Shop cannot accept as donations:
  • Televisions
  • Large appliances
  • Microwaves
  • Computers, monitors, and printers
  • Beds
  • Window coverings
  • Car seats, cribs and strollers
  • Sleeper sofas, pull-out bed couches
  • Items that have been recalled, banned, do not meet current safety standards, or are hazardous
 
CAP Thrift Shop does not generally have adequate staff, volunteers, or resources to clean items, repair items, or pick up donations.  We ask that you help us maintain our focus on using our resources for our community and our clients by keeping our costs low through cleaning and repairing your donations before you bring them to CAP so our clients and customers receive the best possible items in the most respectful way.
 
Donations are accepted most Mondays through Saturdays 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

DONATIONS MAY BE TAX DEDUCTIBLE

CAP Agency is very grateful that you choose to donate to us.  When you donate to CAP Agency, your donations remain local, you help your neighbors, you provide opportunities to CAP to help more people, and your donations may be tax deductible – check with your tax advisor.  Donation receipts are available to donors, please see a CAP Thrift Shop employee or volunteer.

DIRECT CONTACT

Our Thrift Store is located at 712 Canterbury Road in Shakopee. The store is open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday and from 8:00am-5:30pm on Saturday. We are closed on Sunday and major holidays.
