Hope For the Holidays

CAP Agency’s Hope for the Holidays assists families to experience the joy of the holidays by providing children and families with new gifts. With household budgets being stretched thin by necessities, these gifts ease the burden on parents. We envision a joy filled holiday for all families.

This year, CAP will also be offering it’s “Adopt-a-Senior” program as part of Hope for the Holidays!  This program will help senior citizens by providing them with household goods and small gifts to help them to stretch their fixed incomes and let them know they are not alone this holiday season.

Through our adopt-a-family program, families submit their wish lists to CAP Agency and donors adopt the families by purchasing items from their wish lists.

How do I adopt a family?
Simply go to https://www.capagency.org/adopt-a-familysignup/ and choose the family size you wish to adopt. Wish lists from families will not be sent out until after November 14th.

Sponsors (individuals, families, civic groups, churches, schools, and companies, etc.) support a family for the holidays. Sponsors provide $50 in gifts for each individual. Once signed up, sponsors receive the first name, age, gender and a wish list of gift ideas under $50.

You must sponsor at least two individuals (one adult and one child.) A family consists of the children and the parent, each receiving gifts. Sponsoring parents is not optional, so please include that in your decision on how many individuals to sponsor. Your financial commitment is approximately $50.00 per individual.

To “Adopt-a-Senior,”  go to https://www.capagency.org/adopt-a-seniorsignup.  We are asking that our donors put together a reusable bag/basket containing the following items:

  • Dish soap
  • Dish towels
  • Tissues/Kleenex
  • Toilet Paper
  • Paper Towels
  • Package of coffee
  • Gift Card (suggested amount of $10)
  • Other item suggestions: slipper socks, coloring books, puzzle books, blank greeting card or notecards

Please do not include food items or gender specific items.

You may include a note for your adopted senior as well wishing them a good holiday!

These gift bags/baskets can be dropped off at the Shakopee CAP office on December 12th from 9am-4pm or December 13th from 8am-11am.

If you are interested in volunteering to help deliver these gift baskets to seniors, please email jlara@capagency.org.
