Chore Services

Befriend an elderly community member by assisting with various household and yard chores (i.e mowing the lawn, raking leaves, fixing a leaky faucet, washing walls, shoveling snow.) Although considered a volunteer, workers for some jobs may be eligible for a stipend.
Seasonal & Ongoing
Flexible commitment. Great for community/youth groups.
Crisis Nursery
Care Provider or Advocate
 
Provide short-term care for children whose families are in crisis – Must be a licensed daycare or foster care provider.

Be a volunteer advocate providing coverage for 24-hour help line – Must have experience in social service and/or crisis response.

Flexible Weekdays, Evenings and Weekends

Energy Assistance   File paperwork for Energy Assistance Department in RosemountoOffice Flexible Thursdays or Fridays approx 2 hrs/wk
Fare For All
 
Assist with food sales and distribution in:
-Chaska from 12:00 - 2:30.
-Shakopee from 3:30 to 6:00
-Rosemount from 3:00 - 5:00

Food Support Outreach
 
Help Scott, Carver, and Dakota county residents complete application for county-run, federal program that helps low-income Minnesotans get the food they need for sound nutrition and well-balanced meals.
OR
Attend local events such as county, health, senior fairs etc., to educate public about Food Support Program. Retired or current teachers ideal.
1-2 hours a week commitment

Head Start

Assist with preschool program, children 3-5 years old. Play games, read to children, assist with daily activities.
Morning or afternoon
Mon-Thurs.

  Share your special talent or skill in a preschool setting. Play piano, love to paint, or make a birdhouse are just a few of the ideas to share with children.

Senior Nutrition

  Serve Senior Dining or deliver Meals on Wheels in community. Weekday mornings
Flexible commitment
Thrift Shop
Shakopee
  Sort and hang clothing and train new thrift shop volunteers. Must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer for this program Mon – Sat hours
