Description
CAP Agency Crisis Nursery provides families, up to 72 hours of overnight care or up to 5 days of day care, for their children. Counseling, mentoring, support and referral services may also be available to parents to assist in resolving their crisis.

Participation
Services are available to families in crisis who live in Scott and Carver Counties and have children from newborn to age 12. Crisis Nursery participation is not based on income.

A crisis is any situation when a parent is unable to provide the care that his/her child needs such as in instances of mental or physical health concerns, housing problems, domestic violence, isolation, loss of employment or childcare and other coping difficulties.

Crisis Nursery Providers

Community volunteers provide safe, temporary crisis care for children who are experiencing family crisis. Crisis Nursery care takes place in the provider’s home and/or in an affiliated childcare center. Crisis Nursery Providers must have a Child Care license for daytime care and/or a Foster Care license for overnight care.

CAP Agency Crisis Nursery also serves as a resource to prospective volunteers interested in obtaining a Foster Care or Child Care license.

Teen Parent Support
Support for teen parents is a commitment of the CAP Agency Crisis Nursery program. Teen parents are offered support including parenting education, parenting breaks and family support through mentorships. Support is conducted through one-to-one relationships with a CAP Agency Outreach Coordinator to provide support across all the programs and service of the CAP Agency.

Cost
Crisis Nursery services are voluntary and are provided at no cost to families in crisis.
