Nutrition Program: Home-delivered
meals and congregate dining services.
Meals on Wheels: Offers weekday delivery of nutritious
noon meals to homebound adults age 60 and older. Meals
on Wheels is available on a short-term or long-term basis.
Senior
Dining: Offers
nutritionally balanced hot noon meals to adults age 60 and older. Health
information, social service referrals, nutrition education, volunteer
opportunities, occasional celebrations and companionship with other
participants are also provided.
A
required two-day advance meal reservation can be made by contacting
the sites listed on the Senior Nutrition Location
page.
WIC
(Women, Infants & Children):
Provides nutrition information and supplemental food vouchers to pregnant,
nursing or postpartum women and to families with infants and children
under age five.
Clothing
Thrift
Shop:
Offers the general public high-quality, gently used clothing and small
household appliances for sale at reasonable prices in a department store
atmosphere. The thrift shop is located in Shakopee.
Education
Head
Start:
Offers
a family-based preschool program to children ages 3-5. Head Start is
for income-eligible families at not cost and includes education, social
services and health and nutrition services.
Healthy
Families:
Provides intensive home visits to support new and expectant parents
in the areas of child health and development, positive parenting skills
and a safe home environment.

& Crisis Care
Child
Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R):
Offers families of all income levels childcare information and referrals
to help meet their childcare needs. Also, offers home-based childcare
providers support in their professional growth and recruitment.
Crisis
Nursery:
Provides families in crisis up
to 24 hours of overnight care or 5 days of day care at no cost for children
age 12 and under. Information and referrals are also available to parents
to assist in resolving their crisis. The 24-hour help line is 612-839-5101.
Housing
Housing
& Homeless Prevention:
– Helps people
who are homeless or at risk of being homeless, to secure transitional
housing or maintain existing housing.
Energy-Related
Assistance
Energy
Assistance Program (EAP):
Provides grants to income-eligible renters and homeowners to help pay
heating bills. Additional funds are available for crisis situations
and energy-related repairs.
Weatherization:
- Provides
homeowners with insulation, caulking, minor furnace repairs and furnace
replacements services to help reduce heating and cooling costs.
Other
Services
Chore:
Provides
help with indoor and outdoor home maintenance services such as seasonal
yard cleanup, snow removal, grass mowing, window washing, heavy indoor
cleaning and minor home repairs to help enable older adults to continue
to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
Family
Assets for Independence in Minnesota (FAIM):
Provides
families with money-saving incentives and support for money management
and financial planning.
Food
Support Outreach:
The
Food Support Program is a county-run, federal program that helps Minnesotans
with low-income get the food they need for sound nutrition and well-balanced
meals. Under the guidance of the USDA and the DHS, monthly benefits
are issued in the form of a re-usable Electronic Benefit Transfer card
(EBT).
